Celebrations as 118.000 immigrants join the expanded Arcology project!

Under the thundering rythm of drums, tens of thousands of Minmatar disembark to join the Aurora Arcology!
A welcoming celebration was held to herald these new arrivals, but also to celebrate that the Aurora Arcology now houses over half a million people! With special thanks to capsuleer  Caroline Grace who took care of transporting these refugees to give them a new chance in life.

As some might remember, recent negotiations with Caldari Provisions made a temporary end to our impending overcrowding. These new arrivals will be housed in one of the three new districts that have been opened.

To go back on the arrivals, Caroline Grace did not only transport these refugees, but also enough supplies to create one big holiday party! Thousands of bottles of Spiced wine, millions of Quafe cans,  tens of thousands of livestock! Enough to support everyone at the Arcology to celebrate the holidays!
Thanks to Caroline Grace, these refugees will have a holiday season they'll never forget. Combined with the inauguration of the 3 new districts, it'll be a holiday celebration to remember aboard the Aurora Arcology.

Over the course of this year, many other capsuleers have supported us as well. Dozens of capsuleers have helped to embetter the lives of refugees anywhere by giving them a new chance at the Aurora Arcology project. The overwhelming support I received at times is a testimony that many capsuleers do care about the well-being of others. From rescuing hapless civilians, to providing highly skilled personnel for the Arcology, all contributions have their worth.

On behalf of all citizens of the Aurora Arcology, I want to thank all those who supported me over all these years. I couldn't have done it without you!

Now onward to this week's immigration report. A large variety of civilians has joined us this week, in large numbers! The main group heralds from Minmatar space, but we've got folks from a variety of other backgrounds joining us as well!

With these immigrants, we now exceeded our old capacity limits, but thanks to Caldari Provisions, we now rent 3 additional station sections. The current immigrants will use one of these new sections. Due to the diversity in professions we don't foresee any large troubles.

Over 500.000 civilians now, all being helped & guided by the Aurora Arcology project. It's hard to imagine that barely a year ago, we just had over a 100.000 people accumulated over years of assistance. But it's this coregroup of veterans that now assist in guiding the good workings of the Arcology project, helping the new immigrants finding their place in Aurora.

The Luminaire Holiday Festival was a great success!

The preparations before the event kickoff

Over the course of the day, more and more people gathered at the Luminaire Navy stations for the Snow & Lightshow festival at 22H. As time progressed, the enthusiastic chatter increased, happy and cheery people talking in anticipation of what spectacular shows they'd see! A mere hour before the event, several partyboats arrived and gave away a nice opening lightshow, as a teasing of what was yet to come! More people undocked, and by using the specially modified festival launchers they were able to fire away fireworks & snowballs to kick off the event! Some people wanted to participate, but lacked snowballs to do so but capsuleer Zanza Mechonis came to their rescue by sharing his formidable stock with those who needed it, ensuring everyone could be part of this snowball fight!

22H, the event has begun!

By the time the official event started, people were already enjoying themselves by shooting fireworks and pelting each other with snowballs.
But for a moment, a stunned silence came over the crowd when two iconic ships warped in the middle of the crowd! As people recognized them as Concord SWAT battleships, cheering broke out, and to herald their arrival, people focused their fireworks & snowballs on them, delivering an explosion of light & snow!

Image showing one of the Concord SWAT Battleships being heralded by fireworks!

These Concord ships were piloted by two Commanders from the Crowd Control Police department, namely CCP Falcon and CCP Logibro. Officially they were present to maintain law & order among the capsuleergathering. But as the festival continued, and people kept dragging them into their lightshows and snowball fights, it's safe to say they enjoyed it as much as we did, especially as nobody tried to crash the party.
While the festival continued, Commander A9, the organizer of the event, announced there would be 3 major lightshow competitions, so everyone has a chance to win prizes! There would also be a Secret Santa Gift Giveaway, in the spirit of the holiday season. The Santa figure is an obscure reference to an old holiday event that was all about sharing and promoting good will among people.
Meanwhile DJ Tranze of New EvE Radio provided the music to enhance the mood and keep spirits at an all time high & jolly! DJ Tranze also held a great & successful lottery across the holiday event!
As the event had kicked off, the final schedule of this night was provided, so everyone knew when what would happen, and how long the holiday festival would last. All the lightshows would be held at the second asteroid belt of Gallente Prime for easier judgement of the competitors. The schedule provided:

Event Schedule
2200: Event Starts at Luminaire VII Federation Navy Assembly Plant
2230: First Lightshow
2300: Secret Santa Gift Exchanges
2340: Second Lightshow
0020: Third Lightshow
All Evening: DJ Tranze Lottery Drawing

Just before the lightshows started, Caroline Grace arrived with her Providence freighter, giving people a great focal & navigation point in space to cluster around! As if the Concord ships weren't enough! During the whole event, people playfully pelted snowballs at her freighter, turning it almost entirely white at the end due to the massive amount of snowballs being flung!

Footage of Caroline Grace's Providence and the Concord ships being pelted by large amount of snowballs!

A Videofeed provided by Capsuleer Thufir Bezluden: Luminaire Snowballs & Fireworks!

The Lightshows!

These were the core of the events, renowned lightshow and firework artists from all over the cluster would gather, displaying their skill in creating marvellous displays of awe and amazement! The best among them would be granted prizes. As there would be 3 Lightshow competitions, it was made sure no skilled artist would be left out in this event!

The first lightshow event was a great display of lasers and drones in wondrous patterns of light! A nice free show for the miners present as well who were completely surprised by the show held in their area.
The people cheered and applauded for the neat shows and enjoyed them greatly. The first show also included alot of hilarity, as CCP Falcon managed to get his Concord SWAT Battleship stuck between the rocks. With pushing and pulling from people present, he managed to free himself out the dastardly asteroidfield.

The second lightshow saw alot of long range displays, lighting up entire rockfields with a single lasersweep, fireworkdisplay or dronegroup-passage. While the show was less intense lightwise, it was more than made up by the sheer scale provided by the competitors!
A small dent in the holiday cheer happened here tho as a scrooge capsuleer tried to grinch the event by attacking yours truly! However in the spirit of the holiday season I refused to retaliate, nor releasing the killright on him. Also no further indicents occured, and Concord felt no need to intervene after this, allowing CCP LogiBro & CCP Falcon to enjoy the event fully.

The third lightshow was much more small scale then previous, but also much more orderly, allowing people to have a clear view on these small but intense displays of skillful drone & lightshows. Drones performing beautiful dancing patterns of light, guided by lasers bouncing off them, or fireworks exploding all around them. People applauded as they saw the drones dance in space on the lights and the music.
Now comes the list of winners!

First lightshow winners: (1) Khaprice  (2) Thadrian  (3) Jandice Ymladris  (4) Nvyn

Second lightshow winners: (1) Ordule  (2)Nohugh Arnott  (3) Robyn Aurilen  (4)Alstevar Eastern  However, one of the winners  decided to gift away his price in the spirit of the Holidays to Yuuki Nakamura as she assisted greatly in making his show a succes!

Third lightshow winners: (1) Jandice Ymladris  (2) phx1340 (3) Saavik Ambraelle (4) Ordule

All in all, the lightshow event was a formidable succes and greatly enjoyed by all attendants. The prizes handed out were impressive, they included a Stratios, a  Pilot License Extension, Luxury nights with Exotic dancers and tons & tons of snowballs!

Holiday Cheer across the evening!

The times between the lightshows and the rest of the evening were greatly enjoyed as well. people chasing each other to throw snowballs at each other. Capsuleers like Che Biko and Zero Vigilant sneaked up on unsuspecting others, launching volleys of snowballs and fireworks, then speed away laughing of joy as their target is left behind, covered in snow & firework lights!
Capsuleer wh0dunnitthethird kept providing snowballs for the event through Commander A9 who handed them out to all who wanted more!
CCP Falcon & CCP Logibro also informed capsuleers they could buy additional fireworks and snowballs from the store! This generous act of Concord was met with much cheering and jollyness.
The Secret Santa Gifts were also enjoyed, and the happy people linked their gifts for others to see. This also showed the generosity of capsuleers, as shown by the gifts linked: Astero, fully fitted Vexor,  high quality faction modules like Gistii drives and such, but also a Full holiday supply worth of snowballs!

Some additional footage before we come to the inevitable conclusion:

The Aurora Arcology Rokh Partyship in all its glory!

A group picture of several attendees, the large Providence piloted by Caroline Grace and the two Concord ships piloted by CCP Falcon & CCP Logibro do catch the attention here!

The Conclusion of this Holiday Snowball Festival

All in all, it was a great success, enhanced by the arrival of two beloved Concord officials. All those who participated can leave their comments at Commander A9's informationfeed about the event here: Luminaire Snowball Fight!
The happyness and jolly people expressed was a welcome change of the otherwise grim and darkness the cluster usually offers. The event also showed a great deal of charity, people donating snowballs to others, so everyone could participate and also actively helping by donating prizes and being part of the Secret santa giveaway! The amazing lightshows both in and out the competitions made for marvellous displays and meant there was always something new to see!
Also a big thanks to DJ Tranze of New EvE Radio for the lottery, giving out 13 billion worth in prizes and of course for providing the music!
Let us not forget to congratulate Commander A9 for organizing this event, as he made this all possible! But all the people who supported this event allowed him to make it even more of a succes!

A big thanks to all who attended, you made this a success!

Preparing for the Luminaire celebrations and other happy news!

Quite some happy news to report today! This report will be split in 3 parts. First will be about the Luminaire Snowball festivities on sunday 22 december at 22h! The second one will be a report on a capsuleer of good will who rescued many civilians. Third report will be about the expansion of the Aurora Arcology and the planned celebrations for it.

The Luminaire Snowball festivities!

Commander A9 is organizing a celebration in Luminaire at 22 december at 22H, as detailed in this invitation. All capsuleers, regardless of alignment are invited to attend and participate.
As we all know, the upcoming days are about celebrating all that's good and great in this world, so it's fitting the event is held in Luminaire, where the homeworlds Caldari Prime and Gallente Prime lie. It's in this spirit I will attend the event, to celebrate the peace signed over Caldari Prime earlier this year, showing that men of good will and good intentions still exist in power.

What better way to celebrate the holidays then in this system, where two different factions reside in peace. Let us honor this and bring our ships, fitted for peace & celebration. Fit your specially modified festival-launchers, online your lightshow lasers and bring out the partydrones and turn this event into a blast!

Capsuleer rescues over 400 people from pirate-hideouts!

During assignments in Khanid space, the capsuleer Jimbo Atruin has located several pirate hideouts. As he cleared these hideouts, he found many captives and hostages that he in turn freed from the pirates. Showing his good nature, Jimbo took these folks in after their distressing experienced and helped them recover.
In this period, he managed to rescue over 400 people and their pets.
Recently, he contacted the Aurora Arcology and asked information about the refugee project. After he was assured that the Arcology gave refugees a warm new home to live at and a new start in their lives, Jimbo transferred the Refugees to our care. I'm thankful for his trust in us, but also grateful for his efforts in rescuing these people and helping them recover. Thanks to him, several hundred more people will have a reason to celebrate the upcoming holidays!

Aurora Arcology signs expansion-agreement with Caldari provisions!

As some of you know, the Aurora Arcology section aboard the Caldari Provision food packaging plant in Irjunen was getting crowded. Currently we're at 75% capacity! After a few months of negotiatons, an agreement to expand the Aurora Arcology section aboard the Station has been signed. These additional  & currently unused sections will be for our use within days! This will triple the amount of space, guaranteeing our continued presence in Irjunen.
Due to this happy news shortly before the holiday celebrations, it's been agreed to integrate the opening ceremony of the newly added sections with the upcoming holiday celebrations aboard the station, giving it an extra boost of joy!
So the future looks bright and great for the Aurora Arcology, we'll be able to receive many more refugees the upcoming year without worrying about livingspace for them.

The fedo, a strange animal

Recently, the Fedos popularity as pet amongst capsuleers has exploded. But what is a fedo? And where does it come from? What can it do?

Where do Fedos come from?

Fedos were initially discovered by the Amarr as they settled Palpis IV a few centuries ago. As the Amarr colonists settled the world, they found this strange, smelly but tame creature in the caves. Quickly it was discovered they make excellent biological garbage-disposals.
Later on, some Amarr ships started using them to keep their ships clean of waste, mainly in the slave-compartiments, due to the smell they produced.
When the Minmatar rebelled and formed their own faction, they took with them the amarr habit of using fedos aboard ship to keep them clean.
To this day, it are mainly the Amarr & Minmatar who use the fedo as ship-cleaner. Do keep in mind, this habit of using fedos as shipcleaners is a minority among shipcaptains. This can mainly be attributed to the smell they produce and the risk of becoming a pest.

What are Fedos? And what can they do?

Fedos are omnivorous creatures, they can devour almost anything! This makes them great for low-maintenance cleaning. their small size, about half a meter allows them to reach & 'clean' places most janitors or automated cleaners have a hard time reaching.
The downside of this however is the fact they produce a terrible odor. This is further enhanced by their primitive digesting system, that is based on fermenting. This means food remains a very long time in their body, with the result you expect, very smelly gaseous excretions.
Their fumes do have one peculiar side-effect, it tends to remove bacteria aboard a ship, making them a cheap biological sterilizer unit. Do note, it's advised to only use males. Female fedos produce fumes that can irritate the skin to outright poisonous for the average human.

It is interesting to note that the fedo has no eyes or ears, they are deaf & blind. Their main way of communication is through smell, which is part of the reason that they produce such range of smelly odors. The fedo feeds itself by climbing on top of it's food and lowering itself on it, as their mouth is located at what we would refer to as the belly.
They are able to move by small clawed tentacles at the side of their bodies. Females have more of these limbs then the males. The females also tend to be larger and more richly colored (generally fedo's have a reddish color)

They are also very resilient and fast breeding creatures. They're able to withstand several hours of vacuum, making them hard to get rid of once they breed uncontrolled. And this is easy to achieve, as a typical fedo reaches breeding-age 24 hours after birth. This means that you have to keep males & females separate at all times, lest you are faced with a very smelly pest-infestation that's hard to get rid of.
Their resilience, coupled with the easy breeding means that they're sometimes used in Fedo-fighting clubs, where female fedos are pitched against each other to the death. This usage is mainly seen among the Gallente, but in recent times it spread to the other factions as well.

Until recently, fedos were mainly used aboard some Amarr & Minmatar ships as a cheap alternative to cleaners & sterilizers as they eat anything, and their fumes keep the environment bacteria-free.
However, as noticed, they gained popularity as pets. This is due to a breakthrough in Fedo food-research. With a special diet-food you are able to reduce the smell of their fumes greatly, allowing them to be much more pleasant houseguests.
This is also the reason the Aurora Arcology added them to the list of allowable pets, as long as the Fedo-keeper does his best to minimize the odor.

Fedos & the Aurora Arcology

As mentioned earlier, the Aurora Arcology recently allowed fedos as pets. To keep up with their succes as pets, the Aurora Arcology actively seeks out people (mainly capsuleers) who want to get rid of their fedos. With every fedo collected, another civilian is made happy! And the capsuleer got rid of the smelly pest.
If you have unwanted fedos aboard, you can donate them now to the Arcology, knowing that the fedos will be well looked after.

Over 14.000 refugees join the Aurora Arcology!

With the joining of this group of refugees, the Arcology population has now exceeded 400.000 citizens! And with your assistance we'll keep expanding the project, helping more people daily to start a new life in safety!

On another page, The Aurora Arcology Council has expanded the list of allowable pets after long consideration. From now on Fedo's can be kept as pets as well, under strict regulations and after acquiring a FPH (Fedo Pet Holder) License. This is to assure Fedo's will be treated well, and actions are taken to reduce their smelly odor as much as possible.
Time will tell if Fedo's will become the new hit as pets, or that their intensive caretaking will ultimately put off most people to have them as pets themselves. The license-holders will be monitored by the Animal Experts to assure they follow the directives on holding fedo's for housekeeping.

Now that we covered the recent addition of Fedo's on the allowed Pets list, we'll now go to the main part of this report: the New Immigrant List:

The dark humor of capsuleers

As many of you surely know, the Aurora Arcology accepts almost all refugees & rescuees capsuleers find.
Undoubtedly you are also aware capsuleers  (and Dust mercs) can represent both the best & worst humanity has to offer in immortality.

A recent occasion reminded me of this.... A few days ago, a courier delivered a package to one of our collection points. With it came a mail with a curious message. It said *Hey Jandice, I managed to retrieve Kruul for your project! However there might be some extra work on him.*
Hm, Kruul, a known kidnapper (Damsels!) and pirate leader, joining the Aurora Arcology? And what's with *he needs some extra work*? We don't force people to join... if they don't want to, they go their own way...

On opening the package it all became clear.... It just contained a few remains of what was supposed to be Kruul... Some extra work indeed! If we wanted him presentable we'd need to reclone him from the few remains we got!
DNA analysis did confirm this were Kruul's remains. After this, a proper burial service fitting for a slaving & kidnapping pirate was given to his remains, we spaced them through the garbage-chute.

Never thought I'd say this, but after this incident it was obviously needed: The Aurora Arcology Project only accepts refugees & rescuees that are still alive. Dead bodies, gibbed remains, DNA goo or otherwise non-living organic human matter is not accepted as refugee/rescuee in the Aurora Arcology!

Workings of the Aurora Arcology: Irjunen System

Prologue

As some know, the Aurora Arcology is located in the Irjunen system, aboard the Caldari Provisions Food packaging station. This location wasn't selected at random, but due to past events. These events both incorporate the system's history and the Caldari Provision's recent past. This article will highlight both, and explain why this place was chosen.

Irjunen History

Several years ago, this system appealed to a large crowd of dutyful capsuleers working for the State. The reasons for this were twofold.
One was the relatively low security of the system and surrounding systems, leading to higher danger pay. It's important to note that Irjunen and all nearby systems still fell under Concord security , so despite the lower security, Concord still retaliated against acts of aggression.
The second reason were the expert CPF agents located here, they gave capsuleers high quality missions that were above average in payouts, causing an influx of capsuleers to the system. This gave the system a reputation as missionhub.
The reasons mentioned above made Irjunen a popular hub to work for the State. Subsequently, it had a booming economy, thanks to wealthy capsuleers spending their isk in the local stations.

Two years ago, this all changed. Agents got reorganized and their quality expertise had now be shared among all. This new rule hit the Irjunen system hard as it was outside the usual traderoutes. This caused many of the Capsuleers to flock to new missionhubs closer to a major tradehub.
Due to this, the economy crashed, and people emigrated, causing the local stations to cut down on production and seal off entire sections as they simply no longer needed that much space...

For the Aurora Arcology, this meant we could rent large sections of stations at a premium rent!

Caldari Provisions

Now, why did we pick the Caldari Provision station? Mainly due to their stance on employees and their corporate philosophy.
They are supporters of the Ishukone vision on Corporate dealings and believe that employees have to be treated fairly to retain their loyalty. Also, as seen during their actions shortly after the Caldari Prime battle, they believe in putting the Caldari people before their own corporation, should the need arise, as they assisted in the relief efforts for Caldari prime.

Due to this, we felt that setting up a refugee program aboard one of their stations would benefit us both. We gain their support in setting up a refugee project (culminating in the Aurora Arcology) aboard one of their stations. In return they gain access to a new workforce and customers. Caldari Provisions also gains a positive image through us as a Corporation that gives employees a second chance if they work for it.

Conclusion

The combination of renting large sections of a spacestation cheaply and Caldari Provisions' support for relief programs made the Irjunen Station of Caldari Provisions an excellent choice to start up here. Currently, our expansion of the Aurora Arcology population is growing to the limits of our rented space, but Caldari Provisions already informed us we can rent a second, and perhaps a third section of the station at a premium rate, after necessary dealings have been made.

Future development of Ayem Colony

Some of you might wonder what happened to our colony plans in Providence. Rest assured that the Ayem colony project is still on the table! Things have been going slow on this front due to various setbacks involving transport & bureaucracy.
However, our colonial department has used this extended period well by developing a future roadmap for the Ayem colony. To be noted, this roadmap must first pass approval by the Board of Directors from Fourth District Infrastructures Ltd as they hold the colonial rights.

To improve the economic stability of a large colony, the surrounding systems must be developed as well, allowing for trading larger volumes of goods & services. To that extend the 4TH district has put out a call for Industrialists and Planetary Managers to come to the 4TH District region in Providence to strengthen the new Caldari State sector:

Without further delay, we will now reveal what is roughly planned to develop the Ayem colony:

Outlaid plans & ideas for the expansion of Ayem colony. Timeline: early Y116 till end of the year

The initial project is to establish a Planetary Administration Center (PAC) at the fringes of the colony. This will house around 3000 employees, who will be brought in from the Arcology. Materials & machines to build will be imported locally. The employees might need an escort for a safe arrival, but this will be discussed & arranged with 4TH District.

Once the PAC is constructed, it's primary function will be to manage planetary affairs more efficiently. It will aim at increasing local foodproduction & expanding the local industry.
Also the facility will look into ways to promote planet Ayem for Capsuleer PI to increase revenue. Ways of achieving this could be advertisements. This must be discussed &  approved by 4TH first if it happens. Also a temporary Tax reduction from the POCO could bring in extra investors. Will require a meeting with the POCO operators to discuss possibilities on Tax-changes.

Once this is in place (and probably some other stuff) focus will redirect in providing materials & machines to expand the colony itself, to house alot more colonists. All required goods will be imported locally, with support. Thoughts will be given on what extra can be done besides expanding the population. One of the planned additions by then is a fully developed hospital, to accomodate the increasing demands for more complex medical procedures done locally.

Around this time, first steps will be set for a garrison (provided if approved by the board) to combat any crime, the mountains do provide good cover for insurgents, so a strong milita force is required. This militia force will be able to guarantee safety to the growing population of colonists.
Current aim is to deliver approximately 100.000 new colonists by the end of Y116. This will provide a solid basis for a self-sufficient and genetically healthy colony.

Future plans at this time will involve increasing colony population to be able to train shipcrews locally and perhaps establish an additional colony. It will also incorporate the expansion of the Garrison to provide a source for off-world groundforce support in case it might be needed.

This concludes the current plans drawn out to develop Ayem Colony, do note that these plans have not yet been approved, so changes can happen once the Ayem project is greenlighted.

Overview of the Foundation Celebration, the Colony in the wormhole system Origin

The celebration happened at the colony grounds and was a great learning experience, as I usually only decant in cities or stations, not the wild nature regions beyond. The Music stage was an enriching cultural experience as the music was both powerful and calming, very fitting of it's overwhelming location. The crowd that had gathered there was a symbol of it's succes. The forest, with it's colossal trees and beautiful stream was a pleasure to walk through and enjoy it's presence.

The event also gave me the chance to meet many people in person that I speak to often through the various commchannels. Ston Momaki was a delight to chatter with, exchanging information how we handled the training & integration of Hounds, and treatment of Slavers. This has lead to me looking into changing or expanding some of our integration programs as Mr Momaki shared some good idea's.
Meeting Dust Merc, Denak Kalamari was wonderful as well. His knowledge about planetside life was impressive and made me feel more comfortable about being in an old imposing forest. This also reflected in the talks we had.

All in all, it was a great event, in which I met several interesting folks and had enriching talks about various subjects, from music to management and various subjects inbetween. May the colony Foundation face a beautiful and grand future beyond the frontiers of known space!

Some info on the attendants:
-Ston Momaki is head of the Disciples of Ston, an organisation dedicated to saving people abandoned in space
-Denak Kalamari is a Dust Merc working for the Intaki Liberation Front but also runs an Infofeed called *Thoughts of a Clone Soldier* which is very popular among Dust Mercenaries. Alot of the infofeeds would also give Capsuleers a good thought!
-Saede Riordan, CEO of Alexyla Paradox guides the corporation newsfeed
