The dark humor of capsuleers

As many of you surely know, the Aurora Arcology accepts almost all refugees & rescuees capsuleers find.
Undoubtedly you are also aware capsuleers  (and Dust mercs) can represent both the best & worst humanity has to offer in immortality.

A recent occasion reminded me of this.... A few days ago, a courier delivered a package to one of our collection points. With it came a mail with a curious message. It said *Hey Jandice, I managed to retrieve Kruul for your project! However there might be some extra work on him.*
Hm, Kruul, a known kidnapper (Damsels!) and pirate leader, joining the Aurora Arcology? And what's with *he needs some extra work*? We don't force people to join... if they don't want to, they go their own way...

On opening the package it all became clear.... It just contained a few remains of what was supposed to be Kruul... Some extra work indeed! If we wanted him presentable we'd need to reclone him from the few remains we got!
DNA analysis did confirm this were Kruul's remains. After this, a proper burial service fitting for a slaving & kidnapping pirate was given to his remains, we spaced them through the garbage-chute.

Never thought I'd say this, but after this incident it was obviously needed: The Aurora Arcology Project only accepts refugees & rescuees that are still alive. Dead bodies, gibbed remains, DNA goo or otherwise non-living organic human matter is not accepted as refugee/rescuee in the Aurora Arcology!

Workings of the Aurora Arcology: Irjunen System

Prologue

As some know, the Aurora Arcology is located in the Irjunen system, aboard the Caldari Provisions Food packaging station. This location wasn't selected at random, but due to past events. These events both incorporate the system's history and the Caldari Provision's recent past. This article will highlight both, and explain why this place was chosen.

Irjunen History

Several years ago, this system appealed to a large crowd of dutyful capsuleers working for the State. The reasons for this were twofold.
One was the relatively low security of the system and surrounding systems, leading to higher danger pay. It's important to note that Irjunen and all nearby systems still fell under Concord security , so despite the lower security, Concord still retaliated against acts of aggression.
The second reason were the expert CPF agents located here, they gave capsuleers high quality missions that were above average in payouts, causing an influx of capsuleers to the system. This gave the system a reputation as missionhub.
The reasons mentioned above made Irjunen a popular hub to work for the State. Subsequently, it had a booming economy, thanks to wealthy capsuleers spending their isk in the local stations.

Two years ago, this all changed. Agents got reorganized and their quality expertise had now be shared among all. This new rule hit the Irjunen system hard as it was outside the usual traderoutes. This caused many of the Capsuleers to flock to new missionhubs closer to a major tradehub.
Due to this, the economy crashed, and people emigrated, causing the local stations to cut down on production and seal off entire sections as they simply no longer needed that much space...

For the Aurora Arcology, this meant we could rent large sections of stations at a premium rent!

Caldari Provisions

Now, why did we pick the Caldari Provision station? Mainly due to their stance on employees and their corporate philosophy.
They are supporters of the Ishukone vision on Corporate dealings and believe that employees have to be treated fairly to retain their loyalty. Also, as seen during their actions shortly after the Caldari Prime battle, they believe in putting the Caldari people before their own corporation, should the need arise, as they assisted in the relief efforts for Caldari prime.

Due to this, we felt that setting up a refugee program aboard one of their stations would benefit us both. We gain their support in setting up a refugee project (culminating in the Aurora Arcology) aboard one of their stations. In return they gain access to a new workforce and customers. Caldari Provisions also gains a positive image through us as a Corporation that gives employees a second chance if they work for it.

Conclusion

The combination of renting large sections of a spacestation cheaply and Caldari Provisions' support for relief programs made the Irjunen Station of Caldari Provisions an excellent choice to start up here. Currently, our expansion of the Aurora Arcology population is growing to the limits of our rented space, but Caldari Provisions already informed us we can rent a second, and perhaps a third section of the station at a premium rate, after necessary dealings have been made.

Future development of Ayem Colony

Some of you might wonder what happened to our colony plans in Providence. Rest assured that the Ayem colony project is still on the table! Things have been going slow on this front due to various setbacks involving transport & bureaucracy.
However, our colonial department has used this extended period well by developing a future roadmap for the Ayem colony. To be noted, this roadmap must first pass approval by the Board of Directors from Fourth District Infrastructures Ltd as they hold the colonial rights.

To improve the economic stability of a large colony, the surrounding systems must be developed as well, allowing for trading larger volumes of goods & services. To that extend the 4TH district has put out a call for Industrialists and Planetary Managers to come to the 4TH District region in Providence to strengthen the new Caldari State sector:

Without further delay, we will now reveal what is roughly planned to develop the Ayem colony:

Outlaid plans & ideas for the expansion of Ayem colony. Timeline: early Y116 till end of the year

The initial project is to establish a Planetary Administration Center (PAC) at the fringes of the colony. This will house around 3000 employees, who will be brought in from the Arcology. Materials & machines to build will be imported locally. The employees might need an escort for a safe arrival, but this will be discussed & arranged with 4TH District.

Once the PAC is constructed, it's primary function will be to manage planetary affairs more efficiently. It will aim at increasing local foodproduction & expanding the local industry.
Also the facility will look into ways to promote planet Ayem for Capsuleer PI to increase revenue. Ways of achieving this could be advertisements. This must be discussed &  approved by 4TH first if it happens. Also a temporary Tax reduction from the POCO could bring in extra investors. Will require a meeting with the POCO operators to discuss possibilities on Tax-changes.

Once this is in place (and probably some other stuff) focus will redirect in providing materials & machines to expand the colony itself, to house alot more colonists. All required goods will be imported locally, with support. Thoughts will be given on what extra can be done besides expanding the population. One of the planned additions by then is a fully developed hospital, to accomodate the increasing demands for more complex medical procedures done locally.

Around this time, first steps will be set for a garrison (provided if approved by the board) to combat any crime, the mountains do provide good cover for insurgents, so a strong milita force is required. This militia force will be able to guarantee safety to the growing population of colonists.
Current aim is to deliver approximately 100.000 new colonists by the end of Y116. This will provide a solid basis for a self-sufficient and genetically healthy colony.

Future plans at this time will involve increasing colony population to be able to train shipcrews locally and perhaps establish an additional colony. It will also incorporate the expansion of the Garrison to provide a source for off-world groundforce support in case it might be needed.

This concludes the current plans drawn out to develop Ayem Colony, do note that these plans have not yet been approved, so changes can happen once the Ayem project is greenlighted.

Over 17.000 new arrivals at the Aurora Arcology!

And our refugee program keeps growing in succes! While it is below last week's immigration numbers, it's still the second highest recorded since the start of the Aurora Arcology newsfeeds! This is only made possible by YOUR contribution!
Thanks to the ongoing support of capsuleers like you, we manage to keep expanding, helping more and more rescuees to a new and better start in their lives.

The ongoing succes also motivates us to improve our workings and to seek out new ventures to assist these refugees. This can be civilian R&D in various fields like medicine, robotics, engineering etc. Or it can be in production of various goods like luxury livestock, mechanical parts, electronics, etc.
We're always on the lookout to add new kind of jobs to our list, so we can assist the refugees even better in their search for an enjoyable workplace!

Overview of the Foundation Celebration, the Colony in the wormhole system Origin

The celebration happened at the colony grounds and was a great learning experience, as I usually only decant in cities or stations, not the wild nature regions beyond. The Music stage was an enriching cultural experience as the music was both powerful and calming, very fitting of it's overwhelming location. The crowd that had gathered there was a symbol of it's succes. The forest, with it's colossal trees and beautiful stream was a pleasure to walk through and enjoy it's presence.

The event also gave me the chance to meet many people in person that I speak to often through the various commchannels. Ston Momaki was a delight to chatter with, exchanging information how we handled the training & integration of Hounds, and treatment of Slavers. This has lead to me looking into changing or expanding some of our integration programs as Mr Momaki shared some good idea's.
Meeting Dust Merc, Denak Kalamari was wonderful as well. His knowledge about planetside life was impressive and made me feel more comfortable about being in an old imposing forest. This also reflected in the talks we had.

All in all, it was a great event, in which I met several interesting folks and had enriching talks about various subjects, from music to management and various subjects inbetween. May the colony Foundation face a beautiful and grand future beyond the frontiers of known space!

Some info on the attendants:
-Ston Momaki is head of the Disciples of Ston, an organisation dedicated to saving people abandoned in space
-Denak Kalamari is a Dust Merc working for the Intaki Liberation Front but also runs an Infofeed called *Thoughts of a Clone Soldier* which is very popular among Dust Mercenaries. Alot of the infofeeds would also give Capsuleers a good thought!

Scientists & graduates needed to enhance Vaccine Production.

One of the main sources of income for the Aurora Arcology is the production and trading of medicines and vaccines. As the Aurora project became more widely known, our medical sales increased greatly.
We're now at the point that we seek out medical graduates & scientists to assist in the production and enhancement of existing medicines and vaccines, and to develop and produce entirely new ones.

The Aurora Arcology medical facility currently produces these medicines and vaccines:
-General Antibiotics
-General Vaccine injectors
-Zemnar Medicine
-Galeptos Medicine

With additional medical graduates & scientists new medicines can be developed, and existing medicines can be enhanced & produced in a more efficient way!
Capsuleers have assisted us this week as they helped refugees. Arista Shahni has rescued several Medical graduates from deep space and they were happy to join the Arcology and be employed in their field of work.
We thank everyone who gives refugees of all varieties a new start in life at the Aurora Arcology!

Busy stations face capsuleer 'space-slums', causing strikes from Traffic Control!

Ever since Concord granted capsuleers the privilege to build & deploy depots, they have been popping up all over the place.
Busy systems involving trade, mining, jobagents and transport are overrun with numerous depots. This causes a large amount of safety hazards. These safety hazards include, but are not limited to: travelhazards, increased collisiondangers, space-littering, illegal trades, etc.
Gatherings of a dozen or more depots are usually referred to as 'space-slums' or 'tent-cities' due to the fact their icon represents the pictogram of a tent or shack.

This is most apparent in the large tradehubs, like Jita or Amarr, where entire space-slums, composed of dozens, some even say hundreds of depots have been constructed around the stations. Traffic Control is furious as this means even more work for their overworked employees.

At Jita, Traffic Control has held several strikes already, closing down the gates for anyone wishing to enter the system, infuriating the traders and clients!
There have been demands from capsuleers and locals alike for the State to step in, either to bring Jita Traffic Center back in line or take action against the 'space-slums'. As the economy is affected, it's suspected the State will step in, but in which way is unclear, due to the power capsuleers have.

To show the gravity of the situation, there have been reports that the Amarr Traffic Control has announced strikes as well if the uncontrolled deployment of depots continues unabated. Disruption of the heart of the Amarr Empire traffic is practically unheared. The very fact ATC has been pondering the idea of shutting down Amarr for traffic has caused a small upheaval in the Empire as the Homeworld should always be in connection with the Divine Empire.

Concord so far has released no statements yet, but there's rumors abound that they're looking into regulations to confine Depot deployment around high traffic area's. A precedent in this is the Anchored Can-case. They were once seen everywhere, till Concord forbid the anchoring of them at any Surveillance level security (this is security 0.8 and up!). There is a possibility that Depots will fall under the same rule, but as of right now, this is mere speculation.
Aurora News Network will keep you informed should Concord alter any laws concerning Depot deployment!
